What floor repair and recoating in Bendigo actually involves
Consumer Affairs Victoria says a person must be registered if they are “using a combination of skills, such as plastering and painting, to complete a renovation, extension, repairs or any other job”. A floor that needs patching and a new coating is two kinds of work. Ask whether one person is doing both and under which registration.
Larger jobs
For work worth more than A$10,000 a written major domestic building contract is required, except for jobs involving only one of a listed set of trades. For work worth more than A$20,000 Consumer Affairs Victoria says Home Warranty insurance is required from 1 July 2026, and covers work that is incomplete, faulty or non-compliant. The pages read do not say whether single-trade work is excluded from that insurance, so ask.

Before the repair starts
Ask what the quote says about the repair as well as the coat, and how long each is expected to take: Consumer Affairs Victoria says a quote should give a careful estimate of how long the work will take. The main page sets out the registration classes, and the costs page lists the value lines.
A floor that has been wet is worth saying so when the repair is described, so the quote can allow for it. The suburb pages set out where Greater Bendigo has a flood history.
